Whilst the optical and structural properties of glasses containing tantalum oxide have been considerably investigated, research into their mechanical is not substantially established. This work reports on characterization transparent germanate glass samples, obtained via melt-quenching technique, with a molar content Ta2O5 ranging from 0% to 20%. The introduction in samples related significant improvements properties. transition glass-ceramic controlled crystallization proved be tool increase both elastic modulus hardness while keeping transparency material. average studied compositions ranged 69.2 GPa 99.1 GPa, same varied 5.10 7.34 GPa.
